Outstanding Young Alumni Award 


In addition to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, the St. Paul Catholic Schools Consortium presents the Outstanding Young Alumni Award each year to a graduate of one of our North County Schools.  Established in 2016, the award recognizes extraordinary service to the community.​

Recipients


2017  Michael Nicholson

​Mr. Michael Nicholson is a graduate from Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School, now Holy Family Academy, in Gardner, Massachusetts. He subsequently earned two BA degrees from the University of Massachusetts in Political Science and in History. He earned a Masters of Public Policy degree from UMASS Amherst, and is currently working on his Juris Doctor Degree at Suffolk University.  For recess he excelled in the UMASS Minuteman Marching Band as its Drum Major, played in its Pep band, and performed in the Men’s Choir. 
His internships are nearly innumerable, and his endeavors as a leader and volunteer in both Catholic and secular circles is admirable. At Annunciation Parish, Gardner, he has served as an Altar boy, Lector, and Eucharistic Minister, and currently serves on the Pastoral Council. He continues to support Holy Family Academy on the Alumni Outreach Committee. Currently, Mr. Michael Nicholson is the Executive Aide to the Mayor of the City of Gardner. ​

2016  Michael Alario

Michael Alario is a graduate from St. Leo’s Elementary School in Leominster in 2010 and from St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School in Fitchburg in 2014. Michael held the role of class president all four years of high school. Michael made significant contributions to Campus Ministry, serving as President senior year. While in high school Michael dedicated many hours to community service initiatives. He was the Male All Bernardian for the Class of 2014. Michael currently attends the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
He has been a Policy and Communications Intern at Chambers Ireland and has been a District Intern for the Office of United States Congressman James P. McGovern. He was a Democracy Coach and Cohort Director for Generation Citizen which included teaching a three month course on active civic engagement in Boston Public Schools. Michael was also a camp counselor at Applewild Summer Camp.
While in College, Michael’s continues to do volunteer work including 4Boston which is a weekly service organization at Boston College. He is also a volunteer for Appalachia which is an organization committed to working with the poverty stricken populace of the United States. Michael expects to graduate from Boston College in May 2018.
